New in: Sicily’s unique pink fizz

Say hello to the latest w/o arrival – a sparkling rosé made from Sicily’s prized Nerello Mascalese. It’s a style you very rarely see ... but takes pride of place on family tables throughout Sicily.

The grape is usually snapped up for serious (and seriously pricey) Etna reds. But w/o winemaker Dino Taschetta has managed to get his hands on a small parcel and transformed it into a vibrant pink fizz.

Like the other w/o wines, it looks as good as it tastes in its striking recycled ‘wild glass’ bottle.

This month’s theme uncorked

With summer here, we’re bringing back one of my favourite themes: drink like a local!

After years spent exploring wine regions around the world, one lesson keeps proving true: the real gem is what’s in local glasses. Because who knows their wines better than the people who grow them and drink them again and again?

I must shine a light on a personal favourite – Austria’s Blauer Zweigelt from the prized Wachau Valley. Silky, seductive and produced in tiny volumes. No wonder the locals have kept it to themselves.

And I’m delighted to see the return of Everlight Chenin Blanc. A real wow moment to have something so light on its feet deliver such flavour.
