Plum Valley Merlot 2017

Tucked away in the east, encircled by the Ukraine and Romania, Moldova is a hidden gem that has for centuries being producing wines that impress even the most discerning palates. So good, in fact, that during the 18th and 19th centuries Moldova became the ‘Vineyard to the Tsars’. Its Black Sea influenced climate is ideal for organic viticulture – a temperate climate with biting winds that keep disease at bay. That’s why there’s been serious investment recently in this modern cellar. Made from hand picked fruit from the Tvarditsa Estate, this wine uses purely Merlot, Saint Emilion’s great grape. It’s a red shimmering with juicy, ripe plum fruit amplified by an underlying creaminess. A top shout with roast pork or sausage and bean casserole.
