The Wine
Neil Ellis is a legend of South Africa. He made his first wine in 1984, selecting highest quality Stellenbosch grapes and renting cellar space. Today the winery remains very much a family affair. They have won a huge haul of awards over the years, including many 5 Stars, Golds and Trophies. Last vintage, this wine was awarded 97 points and the 2020 Whitehall won two IWC Trophies – Best South African Chardonnay and Best South African White. The grapes for this wine are sourced from close to the Whitehall farm, where Neil Ellis made his first Elgin wine. Barrel-fermented in a third new oak and aged in barriques for 9 months, this is a gloriously rich and complex white, balanced by a tight core of freshness. Fabulous now; will cellar.

Lovely stuff, such a delicate touch in the winery. Delicacy not austerity. Flavour goes on and on
