Charles Rolls and Tim Warrillow take their tonic very seriously. After discovering most of the mixers on the market were full of artificial flavourings, aromatics and sweeteners, they set about creating the perfect tonic. Embarking on several exotic expeditions, they sourced the purest strain of key ingredient quinine in a single plantation on the border between the Congo and Rwanda, and they’re still the only drinks company using this source. Eventually, after five different recipe variations, the first bottle of Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water was produced in 2005. The only difference between the original tonic and this lighter example is that they use fruit sugars as a sweetener instead of sugar cane – same great taste, 46% fewer calories.
