Mercurey AOC

Raspberries, redcurrants and gentle spice abound in this silky Mercurey from an 11-hectare monopole (a single vineyard with one owner). Part whole-bunch fermentation has brought out an ample, fleshy fruitiness with a gentle touch of oak. Classic.

The Wine
In 1825 cobbler Pierre Faiveley started a wine merchant business in Nuits-Saint-Georges. So began one of the most famous houses in Burgundy. Over 7 generations, vineyards have been acquired and today they boast 120 hectares throughout the region and are ranked among Burgundy’s elite. Erwan Faiveley took over from his father in 2005 and is now assisted by his sister Eve (the first daughter for 7 generations!). Erwan set about fine tuning the ‘house’ style, to make the wines more elegant and defined, while still retaining their ageing potential. Framboisière produces wines with lovely expressive fruit and is one of Mercurey’s most highly sought after. And in cooler 2021, "the wines are blooming delicious" (Vinous). Decant early or cellar.
