Zind Chardonnay - Auxerrois 2020
Vin de France
Loading...
Alsace permits 5 varieties, and Chardonnay isn't one of them! Hence Zind's Vin de France status. However, in the hands of this 'genius' 400-year-old family estate, it makes a fine, fresh white, expertly blended with Auxerrois (very like Pinot Blanc).
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
Decanter named Zind-Humbrecht one of France’s Top 10 wineries: “Does winemaking genius exist? If it does then Olivier Humbrecht MW must be in the frame.” Wine Advocate called the wines “absolutely impressive in their depth”. The family have been Alsace growers since 1620 and started making wines in 1947. They now have 40 hectares, all tended biodynamically – by 22 full-time staff – to express as perfectly as possible the grape and its limestone ‘calcaire’ terroir. Most of their wines are exceptional single varietal wines, but Zind is different. It comprises Chardonnay (rare) with Auxerrois, both grown in the western part of the region. There both varieties retain an enticing freshness, while pure, long hours of sunshine bring ripeness.
