The Wine
Fans of our bestselling Vinha do Fava will be cockahoop with this Reserva edition, whose debut marks the 100th anniversary of the award winning Casa Ermelinda Freitas estate. It’s a blend of local Castelão, sourced from the property’s oldest vineyards, Touriga Nacional from the famed Fava vineyard and Alicante Bouschet. Then winemaker Jaime Quendera selected French and American barrels to season the intense dark cherry and plum fruit with exotic spice. To match the occasion of its release, Vinha do Fava Reserva is suitably memorable – concentrated, velvety and textured, with a fine structure and long, fruity finish. And at 15%, it’s worth taking time over. If matching with food, go for rich fare, such as game or a slow-cooked casserole.
