Rioja DOCa
Loading...
Super rare parcel of 23 year old Gran Reserva from one of Rioja’s oldest bodegas and last century’s finest vintages, on a par with 1964. The cellar regularly receives top points of 90+ for its super mature wines and this wine is gorgeously mellow.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

The Wine
It’s almost unheard of to find any cases of really mature Rioja Gran Reserva, but this bodega is one of the oldest and prides itself on them. Bodegas Valoria was founded in 1860 by the Pérez Foncea family and just in 2010 received a boost of investment when the Navarro López family in Valdepeñas took a major share. It can boast prizes galore including 92 Parker points for its 1968 Gran Reserva, tasted when the wine was 44 years old, and 90 points for this wine, tasted in 2008. They certainly know how to make wines that last! 1994 was, of course, “one of the best vintages of the century, compared by many producers with the legendary 1964” (Decanter). And after three years of drought the wines are super concentrated. A wine to snap up fast.
