Valle del Maipo

A Gold, 93 points from Suckling and 92 from Parker – Altazor is world class and on a par with the Premiers Grands Crus of Bordeaux. From a 130 year old Chilean estate, this is a magnificent, Cabernet based red with maturity. Superb now, will age.

The Wine
Viña Undurraga can boast 130 years of history and has been winning international awards since 1910. This century it’s been named Chilean Winery of the Year three times, and there have been countless other prestigious gongs for this estate. Judges at the 2013 British Sommelier Awards commented: “Undurraga quite simply blew away the competition. A breathtaking performance.” And they manage it every year. Altazor is part of winemaker Rafael Urrejola’s Terroir Hunter range that every vintage gains top marks. The vines vary in age from 15 to 25 years old, selected for their outstanding terroir in the Maipo and Maule Valleys. Cabernet with portions of Carmenère and Carignan for complexity and structure, aged in French oak, this is a 5-Star wine.

Dark fruits and shaved chocolate. Full body with silky tannins and a fresh finish. A very fine wine
