The Wine
Want to enjoy some unusual grape varieties? Greco and Fiano are two of Italy's most characterful but, finicky to grow, they aren't grown widely. Remote Basilicata, one of Italy's most mountainous regions, excels with both and winemaker Dennis Verdicchia is a champion of them. Having received top marks in his wine exams, Dennis gained experience all over Italy, as well as in Argentina, South Africa and New Zealand. He met the highly regarded wine consultant Alberto Antonini in Argentina, who was so impressed with Dennis, he asked him to return with him to Basilicata. Now they work together and this is one of their star wines. Greco and Fiano produce lovely creamy lemony and ripe tropical fruit. Just the ticket solo or with chicken dishes.
