The Patriots Merlot 2016

We travelled 10,000 miles and sampled 2,000 wines to find the original Patriots Merlot, named in honour of the founding fathers of Chilean independence. It sold out in weeks, proving there’s a legion of fans looking for the smoothest, juiciest and best value Chilean Merlot available. So every year our Buyer Davy returns to Chile, seeking out a wine worthy of the name The Patriots. This year he found it at thrice ‘Winery of the Year’ LFE, owned by our old friend Don Cayetano. The 2016 has all the plummy richness Patriots fans have come to expect, with added depth of flavour, spice and savoury character courtesy of the deft hand of the Don’s chief winemaker, Nicolas Bizzarri. The Don says it’s ideal to enjoy with lamb chops or chicken.
