The Wine
A unique tawny port with “the characteristic Taylor’s richness and distinctive grip on the finish” (David Guimaraens, head winemaker). In 1692 Job Bearsley, an English merchant, travelled to Portugal and founded the company we know as Taylor’s. It is now one of the oldest and most renowned port producers, and this elegant tawny makes a nod to its long history. The ancient vineyards of the Douro Valley were often planted haphazardly, but today Taylor’s proudly celebrate each traditional variety (Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Touriga Nacional among them) in a blend of the best wines from several vintages. Tawny port is aged in large wood casks for almost all its life to develop its brick red colour. Enjoy after dinner with cheese and nuts.
