The Wine
Tempranillo and Garnacha are two of Spain's most popular red grapes. And for good reason - they deliver buckets of ripe cherry and summer berry fruit, here with a minimum of tannin. Tempranillo has thick skins, in fact, so can produce hefty tannins and deep colour, but not here. Solano is from a half century old family business in Galicia, north west Spain. Separated from the rest of Spain by mountains, it's quite an isolated region, known for its plentiful rainfall. However, this is more than made up for with its, on average, 2,000 hours of sunshine a year. This sort of climate, along with cool draught of mountain air results in that bite of freshness in the wine. Very versatile, with or without food. In summer, try lightly chilled too.
