Saracosa Governo Rosso 2018
Toscana IGT
Loading...
Winner last vintage of Gold and 98 points from wine guru Luca Maroni, Saracosa Governo is a classy, rich Italian. Black cherry intensity, cocoa, coffee and oak spice complexity, all turbo charged from using air dried Sangiovese and Merlot grapes.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
Fans of our usual Saracosa will be bowled over by the intensity of its big brother, Governo. Suave and seductive, this is a full, rounded blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, aged for four months in small oak barrels. What’s more, a portion of grapes were left to dry for 20 days, adding terrific concentration to the wine. It’s a method known as Governo in Tuscany, dating from the 14th century. We think this wine is nothing short of spectacular – it was awarded a whopping 98 points from Italian wine critic Luca Maroni last vintage. The wine is a testament to the talents of Sofia Barbanera, the fourth generation winemaker at this great Tuscan family estate. Decant and serve with a local favourite – rabbit casserole, other game or slow-cooked beef.
Fans of our usual Saracosa will be bowled over by the intensity of its big broth...

Excellent wine, the cherry notes really come through on this one. Very smooth finish. Lovely
