The Wine

A Cannonau is an exciting addition to our list and one from Jerzu makes it even more exceptional. This 'cru' has been making wines for over a 1,000 years. They were so good that, at one point, there was an extra levy on them. All the vineyards lie on the slopes that rise steeply to 700m from the amphitheatre shaped bay they start from. Its volcanic soils and position give the wine a superb elegance, grip and minerality to balance the bright red fruit and herbal scents of the Cannonau grapes. World renowned wine consultant Franco Bernabei oversees production, in this area where so many of its inhabitants live to be over 100, they think it must be because of the wine. We can't make any promises for this red, but it's well worth snapping up!
