The Wine
Born out of the chaos of the pandemic, Raíces Ibéricas winery had a vision: to showcase the best of Spain’s indigenous grapes from each variety's finest region. They believe Spain has a huge wealth of terroirs and ancient, high-altitude vineyards, many of them abandoned and forgotten. So they search them out. Every vintage is unique. The 2017 uses red-berry Garnacha alongside Mazuela, Tintorera, Bobal, Graciano and Mencia, all from different regions. Each is vinified and aged separately in new French and American oak barrels, adding layers of gorgeous savoury spice. This new project has already garnered acclaim from critics with Jancis Robinson declaring the winery an ‘exciting newcomer’ in 2020 and Raices 1 being awarded Bronze at the IWC.
