The Spirit
With flamboyant beard, high spirits and eccentric nature, the original Mr Hobbs was often seen sipping home distilled gin on the river in his punt in Henley in the 1870s. Famous locally for his parties, he was also publican of the Ship Hotel and owner of Hobbs boat yard, still in operation. Now, present-day directors of Hobbs of Henley Jonnie and Suzy Hobbs have taken inspiration from Harry Hobbs’ recipe and crafted a delectable gin for you to enjoy. To give their own twist they have added lime flower and lemon peel, alongside angelica, marshmallow (not the sweetie!), sharp orris root and savoury juniper, plus one botanical that remains top secret. A distilled gin, with those lovely aromatic flavours added after the base recipe is complete.
