Manga del Brujo Repaso Doble Pasta 2016
Calatayud DO

Flying Scotsman Norrel Robertson MW adores the wines of Calatayud and in particular, those using the old vine Garnacha grape. Here he's blended it with Tempranillo, plus Syrah and Merlot and crafted it 'repaso' style for extra spice and weight.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

The Wine
Norrel Robertson is one of a kind. Nicknamed 'the Flying Scotsman', he's made wine all over the world. However, it is Spain that he loves with a passion. He didn't start out as a winemaker, but by the 1990s, had found his true vocation. He passed his Master of Wine exams in 2000, with a top prize. His love for Spain began in 2003. And there he stayed, setting up El Escoces Volante. His first release was Manga del Brujo. Yields are always tiny in the mature, high grown vineyards that Norrel favours, and this is a very special release. It's made by the Repaso Doble Pasta method, similar to Italy's Ripasso, which means the juice was vinfied on the skins of late picked grapes to give extra weight and flavour. Oak aged, it's a serious red.

Old-vine, low-yield grapes from the heights of Calatayud, plus the DP method, ensure great intensity
