Fourth-generation Jerôme Choblet is a top Muscadet producer, but here he champions the ultra-rare Loire speciality grape, Grolleau Gris. Pink-skinned, it lends the wine enticing aromas of honeysuckle and ripe stone fruits, with a core of freshness.

The Wine
Enjoy an exciting, new white from the highly respected winemaker, Jerôme Choblet. He owns Domaine des Herbauges, his family estate dating from 1864. His father, Luc Choblet, took it over in 1980 and decided environmentally friendly methods were the way to obtain even more flavour from his grapes and their terroir. Now Jérôme has taken the reins and is moving quality even higher. He says: “Winemaking is my passion, as is cultivating the very best vines. Each step of the process determines the final expression of the flavours and aromas of my wines.” Usually he works with Muscadet’s Melon de Bourgogne grape, but he was delighted to make a wine from pure Grolleau Gris – rare. From Atlantic-side vineyards, this is a deliciously aromatic white.
