La Révélation Chasan 2016

Winemakers at Le Chai Mark Hoddy and Jean-Marc Sauboua have been hugely excited about this wine ever since they spotted some old vines of Chasan at an estate in the Languedoc. They tasted the berries, chatted with the owner, then swooped, buying the small parcel and transporting the juice up to Le Chai for the gentlest of TLC treatment. You see, it’s not often you come across the Chasan grape. It used to be dismissed as dull, but just taste this dazzling beauty. 30 year old vines, low yields and expert winemaking have given the wine luscious breadth and viscosity, with a creamy underlay from a few months’ ageing on its lees. This is a limited, first release white. Lovely solo and a fine match with creamy sauced white meats, fish or pasta.
