La Bouette de Bourgogne Rouge NV

This red is a super cuvée of fine Burgundy, thanks to an original collaboration between three fine domaines. It brings together a parcel of wine from Domaine Geantet Panslot in Gevrey Chambertin, with Domaine Girardin's Santenay and another from the Hautes Côtes de Nuits Villages. Each vat has been barrel aged before the final assemblage was put together – a wonderful, open and expressive Burgundy that is finer than the sum of its grander name parts. So for once, it's a red Burgundy that is affordable and showing a little maturity too. Lovely spiced berry, earthy notes and a hint of floral. Serve it cellar cool with fine white meat or wild mushroom dishes – they both offer lovely earthy, undergrowth flavour to complement the Pinot fruit.
