A charming red from France’s Beaujolais. A much under appreciated region, it offers elegant wines with real finesse at very reasonable prices. With silky bright fruit, this Côte de Brouilly is a fine, strawberry scented, modern Beaujolais Cru.

The Wine
The supple, fruity wines of Beaujolais are well worth seeking out. Especially when they’re from 2017, a year that critic James Suckling calls “delightful in the glass”, and from an ambitious young winemaker, keen to explore the region's potential. In his mid-30s, Julien Duport is one of the new generation of hugely talented young growers who are determined to bring the Beaujolais region back to its former glory. The result is wines packed with bright berry fruit, finesse and structure from the prized pink granite soils, as well as a lively acidity. Perfect served cool on its own, or partnered with charcuterie, rustic pâté and crusty bread or chicken.
