Gimblett Gravels is New Zealand’s premier region for ‘Cru Classé’, Bordeaux style reds. Leading the field is Pask Winery – they first planted vines here 30 years ago. Barrel aged, with 20% new oak, this is a rich, spiced, superbly balanced, fine red.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
Founder of Pask Winery Chris Pask was flying his plane across the south of North Island one day in the early 1980s when, looking down, he identified the light, stony soils of the ancient Ngaruroro riverbed as the perfect site for growing premium grapes. Chris was right and today the Gimblett Gravels is regarded as the best place for premium red wines not only in Hawke’s Bay but in the whole of New Zealand, and as one of the top areas in the world, along with Napa and Margaret River. Chris’ first release was in 1985 and his wines have been winning Trophies and Golds ever since. The team can now boast 60 hectares of vineyards within Gimblett Gravels. This fine Cabernet-rich red, aged in part new oak for 14 months, is superb now, and will age.
