Martínez Bujanda has been making Riojas for over 130 years and remains one of the most innovative and influential bodegas in the appellation. The estate was founded in the late 19th century and was transformed in 1984 when the Bujanda brothers built an ultra modern facility, still one of the finest in Europe. A decade later they bought the single vineyard Finca Valpiedra estate, superbly situated in a bend of the Ebro River. Their wines have won many top accolades. Charming Los Trinos (‘the trills’), named after the sound of the estate’s abundant birdlife, is their simple and delicious, young Rioja. It offers smooth, elegant berry flavours and, in summer, is appetising served cool. Very tasty on its own or with chicken or tapas.
