The Wine
Sorry, Spain, your secret’s out. We’re thrilled to present El Puño – a handcrafted Vino de Licor from the high plains of Calatayud in northeast Spain. It was crafted by Scottish Master of Wine Norrel Robertson. He’s a passionate ‘Españaphile’ who owns a small Calatayud vineyard, planted at an altitude of 950 metres. To make El Puño, Norrel leaves a few rows of grapes to hang on the vines after harvest. When left like this, all the natural acids turn to sugar – not what you want when you’re making dry wine, but perfect for crafting Vino de Licor. After a hand harvest, the grapes were foot trodden, fermented, fortified and aged in three French oak barrels for two years. Drinking beautifully now, it’s a must for fine cheeses at the fireside.
Sorry, Spain, your secret’s out. We’re thrilled to present El Puño – a handcraft...

Not only is El Puño delicious, it’s rare, too – Norrel made fewer than 100 cases in 2009
