The Wine
This pretty pink Sancerre has built up quite a following over the years. It comes from the Thomas family’s little domaine in the commune of Sury en Vaux, northwest of the town of Sancerre. In fact, you can see the famous hill of Sancerre from the family’s vineyard, where they have a few precious rows of Pinot Noir. It’s not the easiest grape to grow, but the 2024 vintage turned out to be rather special, yielding small quantities of the ripest, juiciest grapes imaginable. The grapes are very gently pressed to create a delicate, strawberry-scented rosé of great freshness and finesse. Superb on its own or alongside pan-fried scallops.
