Domaine François Berthenet Montagny 1er Cru Vieilles Vignes 2021
Montagny Premier Cru AOP
Loading...
Montagny is a top appellation of Côte Châlonnaise in southern Burgundy. So good are its wines, that all are Premier Cru. We love the whites from the Berthenet family, this fine 2021 is long aged on lees to lend creamy weight to the apple fruit.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
The Berthenet family have been growing grapes for almost 400 years. The current estate, however, now complete with winery, was only established in 1974. The founder was Jean-Pierre, who initially supplied grapes to the local co-op, but in 2001, with the help of his son, François, Guide Hachette Winemaker of the Year 2020, they took the brave step of making the wine themselves. They've never looked back. Nearly all the 20 hectares of vines grow Chardonnay, with a small portion of Aligoté and Pinot Noir. They favour sustainable methods in the vineyard, the first to do so in the appellation, grassing over between the rows and working with the soil to bring it to life. Aged 10 months on lees, it's a fine Montagny, aromatic, creamy and textured.
