The Côte de Léchet Premier Cru is a treasure trove for Chablis purists, as its best wines – like this dazzling 2017 from brothers Eric, Emmanuel and Hervé Dampt – capture all the aspects that typify the style. Unlike most Chablis Premiers Crus, Côte Léchet has a southeasterly aspect, which means it receives the full morning sun. So much of the vineyard’s ripening time occurs in a cooler part of the day, which produces ripe grapes with plenty of acidity. This translates into more of the racy vibrancy that Chablis fans crave. A classy aperitif, and ideal with oysters.
