The Wine
Bachelet brothers Marc and Alexandre set up a 10-hectare estate in Burgundy in 2005 and from their first vintage, they've attracted enormous praise from critics worldwide. Wine Advocate wrote in 2021, "brothers Mark and Alexandre preside over a superb portfolio of serious, structured whites and demonstrative, pleasure-bent reds." Vinous described them as "on fire over recent vintages." Their estate includes superb vineyards in Maranges, Santenay and Puligny, plus a handful more they have enfermage (under their management), all worked organically. Using grapes from the highest Maranges vineyard, now 50 years old, fermented part whole bunch with indigenous yeast, this is a beautiful, perfumed red. Decant early or cellar. A dream with duck.
