The Wine
From a family, whose winemaking credentials stretch over six generations, this is an exceptional 93-point Pinot Noir – ripe, pretty, with coastal-cooled elegance. It's from Corryton Burge, whose founders arrived in the Barossa, from Wiltshire, in 1855. That was John and Eliza Burge, with sons Henry and Meshach. Today they have 300 hectares of vineyards in the Barossa and Eden Valleys, plus strong grape-grower mates, who supply top fruit every vintage. Their philosophy is to express each grape's varietal character. For Pinot Noir, that means the elegance gained from Tasmania's Cornelian Bay, where the current Burge owners, Amelia and Trent's mother, Helen, grew up. Aged 14 months in 25% new French oak, this fine Pinot is best decanted early.
