Citadelle No Mistake Old Tom Gin (50cl) NV

The craft gin wave that still reverberates around the globe has sent artisan distillers to the history books in search of inspiration. This has seen a revival of the ‘Old Tom’ method. Originally devised by unscrupulous merchants as a way of sweetening harsh – often poisonous – spirits into something more palatable, Old Tom gins were given colourfully inventive names. Back in 1836, writer Charles Dickens marvelled at the ingenuity of these seductive sobriquets, and ‘No Mistake’ is one of the names he noted. It’s made with the 19 botanicals that infuse the Trophy winning ‘Gin de France’, with yuzu, cornflower and genepi, plus a little toasted Demerara. It then enjoys four months in cask prior to bottling. Great neat over ice or in a cocktail.
