Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2019
Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC
Loading...
Château de Beaucastel is widely regarded as Châteauneuf’s finest estate. The 2019 was a heatwave vintage, so is powerful and lithe, with impressive low yield intensity of spice, kirsch, dark framboise and cocoa. An exemplary, classic Beaucastel.

The Wine
One of the oldest (1549) and most highly respected names in the southern Rhône, the Perrin family combine tradition with innovation. Pioneers of organic and biodynamic viticulture, they were following these practices in the 1950s, long before it was deemed on trend. They use laser sorters in the cellar to ensure only the finest berries go into the vat, with any rejects niftily expelled with a tiny jet of air. Renowned for its elegance, balance and ageing potential, Château de Beaucastel 2019 lives up to the critics' soaring expectations. An intense, powerful, yet elegant expression of the finest Châteauneuf vineyards and this low yield vintage. A wine that'll make delicious early drinking, yet will age magnificently for well over a decade.
