Château Clerc Milon 2021
Pauillac AOC 5ème Grand Cru Classé
Loading...
This superb 5th Growth Pauillac is owned by the Rothschild family, now for the third generation. With vineyards perfectly positioned next to First Growths Lafite and Mouton, the only surprise is its classification isn't higher. A 93-94pt masterpiece.

The Wine
Château Clerc Milon is a worthy member of the Rothschild portfolio. It was founded in the 18th century, taking its present name from its owner at the time of the 1855 classification Jean-Baptiste Clerc and the village of Milon in which it sits. In 1970, with only half of its original vineyards and in a severely dilapidated state, it was acquired by Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Over the years, the family and team at Mouton have worked hard to restore it to its glory days and its wines today far exceed its 1855 5th-growth classification. Indeed, it's one of the most highly regarded of the classed growths, with new facilities in 2007 and 2011. The 2021 is a classic wine thanks to cooler conditions. “Impressively deep and layered” (WA).
