The Wine

Château Beyzac has a long history in the Haut Médoc, and is built on the site of a first century Roman villa. Today's building dates back to 1688, with illustrious owners such as the Marquis de Camiran and was where the Baron Pichon Longueville, when he was mayor of Pauillac, was incarcerated in 1793, during the French Revolution. History aside, Jean-Paul Roland today is its owner, making superb, award winning clarets. This 2014 won Gold at Brussels in 2017. A classic blend of mostly Cabernet, plus Merlot, all aged in barrel, it makes delicious, supple drinking now. Classic cassis and clove aromas, with mellow fruit, liquorice, cedar and spice flavours, supported by rounded tannins. Enjoy with duck, rack of lamb or a winter casserole.
