The Wine
In Targon, in Bordeaux's Entre Deux Mers and 35 kilometres southeast of Bordeaux city lies the beautiful Château Bauvallon. Its central building dates back to the 11th century, but its cellars are fully modernised thanks to extensive renovation work in 2000. 2018 was an outstanding vintage for Bordeaux. James Suckling described the wines as "beautifully structured with ripe fruit and potent tannins," while Antoni Galloni wrote, "2018 offers a tremendous amount of choice for the consumer, from everyday gems to the rarest of collectibles." Enjoy here lovely depth of cassis and plum scented fruit, supported by fine grained tannins. For drinking now, open early and decant. It'll cellar well too. A great red with grilled meats or firm cheeses.
