The Pol Roger family’s delicious Champagnes have been enjoyed by royalty, global leaders and assorted glitterati since 1849. In that time, their most famous advocate has been Sir Winston Churchill, who preferred a rich, powerful style. After his death, the Pol Roger house set about assembling a cuvée Sir Winston would have loved. The exact recipe remains a closely guarded secret, although it is known to be predominately Pinot Noir, providing richness and depth, with Chardonnay adding freshness and finesse. Traditionally, this cuvée is released several years later than Pol Roger’s standard vintages, to reflect Sir Winston’s fondness for aged Champagnes. Rich and creamy, with a fine mousse, this is one to keep for your most special occasions.
