The Wine
Dom Pérignon has been Moët et Chandon’s most luxurious cuvée since its inaugural 1921 vintage and it is only made in outstanding years. 2009 is one of its most exciting, as the vintage enjoyed outstanding conditions that produced “the ripest and richest fruit, grapes in their prime”, said Chef de Cave Richard Geoffroy. Dom Pérignon was a 17th century monk at the abbey in Hautvillers, and his ambition was to make “the best wine in the world”. Hugh Johnson dubbed him the wine world’s ‘first perfectionist’ and legend has made him synonymous with Champagne. Fitting then that this should be made from the very finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and only released after several years in the cellar. A wine of extraordinary complexity and finesse.

Dense and agile. Vinous. It’s like a top grand cru white Burgundy. Think Bâtard-Montrachet
