The Story Behind the Bottle
We are delighted to present this superb 9-year-old Barolo from winemaker Bruno Cordero. He runs the cellar at the Vite Colte winery, alongside a team of 180 growers, each one of them passionate about their few rows of vines and prized Nebbiolo grapes. No wonder they often win Tre Bicchieri (the top mark) from Gambero Rosso and other prizes from international competitions. All the grapes for Essenze come from Barolo's great Serralunga d'Alba, at 300 to 400 metres altitude. Unusually for Barolo, the wine's aged in small barriques, rather than the large traditional botte. 2013 was a top vintage here, with a cool growing season and a late harvest. The result has been structured wines that have aged magnificently. Drink now or cellar for years.
