Big, rich and bursting with sumptuous black fruit, Alto de Mayo explains why Argentinian Malbec is so popular right now. It’s from Bodega Los Toneles, which has been producing top notch wines in Mendoza since its establishment in 1922. A tasty drop.

The Wine
Bodega Los Toneles is an impressive winery, dating back to the 1920s, built in a style capturing the charm and majesty of Argentinian architecture of that era. In 2002 it was purchased by the Millán family and updated with the state of the art winemaking equipment that produced this magnificent Malbec. Of course, great winemaking begins in the vineyard, and not only are the family’s high altitude vineyards all tended and harvested by hand, but their height gives the fruit more time to ripen, promoting a greater depth of flavour while retaining an elegance and freshness. Expect mouthfuls of luscious blackcurrant and plum and a smooth, velvety mouthfeel. A rich aperitif, it’s also ideal with tomato based pasta, and a classic match for steak.
