The Wine
Crafted from the classic Champagne grapes, this fine 2014 vintage English sparkler has been created by Barbara Laithwaite, her winemaker son Henry and the team at Ridgeview cellars. Its elegant summer fruit, apple patisserie flavours and creamy mousse are testament to their meticulous viticulture and winemaking skills, and to the high, cool vineyard site in the Chiltern Hills, just west of Henley-on-Thames. Wyfold Brut’s signature – its vivid minerality – is drawn up through the dense Thames Terrace gravels from the deep Paris Basin chalk bedrock below. With a superb long growing season, the Wyfold 2014, disgorged in July 2018, has out-performed expectation, making it the perfect sparkler to celebrate the first fifty years of Laithwaite's!
