From the excellent Albert Bichot, a rare chance to secure this seven year old red Burgundy. Their Santenay from the small, hail-struck 2014 vintage offers silky summer berries and leafy complexity, around a core of firm tannins, now mellow with age.

The Wine
This leading, family-owned and run house has been making exceptional Burgundy since 1831, their wines characterised by elegance and delicate nuance. They own over 100 hectares of sustainably farmed vineyards, many of which hold Premier and Grand Cru status. This fine, mature Pinot Noir comes from vineyards in Santenay, at the southernmost tip of Beaune. Plots that hug neighbouring Premier Cru land make deliciously well priced wines. 2014 was no easy vintage, with hail and an inclement summer, but small yields meant the grapes ripened well. This intense, silky, mature berry red, with layers of subtle smoky spice from a year in oak, is the entrancing result. Ideally serve in large-bowled glasses, so you can enjoy all the wine's flavour.

Now with seven years' age, this is a very expressive Santenay, with generous, warm fruit
