Cockburn's Vintage Port 2016
Douro DOC
Loading...
Magnificent 99-point Cockburn's from a vintage when "victory goes to the bold" (Wine Advocate). A very late harvest worked well for this port house, as its high score makes apparent. "Full bodied, very tight and precise" said Suckling. One to cellar.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
Cockburn's is one of the finest names in port. The house was founded in 1815 by two Scottish brothers – Robert and John – successful wine merchants in Leith. Port was already very popular among their customers, so they decided to open a branch in the Douro. Many families have joined the original Cockburns along the way, until 2006, when the renowned Symingtons brought it under a single family ownership once more. Over the last two centuries, Cockburn's has enjoyed one of the finest reputations and early in the 20th century, its ports fetched the highest price at auction. Judging by the 99 for this 2016, this house is still very much on form. Using mostly grapes from their main estate, Quinta dos Canais, this is a port to cellar.
