When Italians Mario and Aurora Littore arrived in northern Victoria they recognised that local conditions were similar to parts of Italy ideal for vines and citrus trees, and they soon had the place looking like home. They established a successful wine and orchard venture, now greatly enlarged – they’ve also acquired cooler vineyards near Geelong on the coast – and run by their children and grandchildren. They are a family of innovators and over the last decade have planted not only well known international varieties, but vines rare in Australia such as Fiano, Moscato, Pinot Grigio and Petit Verdot. This juicy, fruit filled Tempranillo gives you plenty to enjoy – and is a fantastic match for lamb chops, vegetable lasagne or a juicy steak.
