Wyfold Vineyard Rosé 2017
English Quality Sparkling Wine
Loading...
Winner of IWC 2022 Best English Sparkling rosé, Wyfold leads the field. It's a two-hectare Oxfordshire estate, planted on fine gravel soils. 2017 was a small vintage, but the quality is clearly all there, with toasted berry notes and minerality.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

The Wine
In 2003 Barbara Laithwaite planted 4,000 vines on a hectare of the Chiltern Hills. The first release, 10 years later, was immediately voted ‘Top English Sparkling’, triumphing at the same time over well-known Champagnes. Other Trophies, Golds and Double Golds have followed, including this year's from IWC – all from this south-facing, now two-hectare vineyard on the stony gravel soil of the Thames terraces. Only classic Champagne grapes – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier – are grown, and all three were used to make this delicious, fine pink fizz. It’s crafted to capture classic biscuity notes along with brisk minerality, reflecting the cool microclimate of this 100m-altitude site. Who needs Champagne when English fizz is this good?

It blew my mind. A gorgeous sparkling wine with plenty of citrus and biscuity pizzazz
