The Wine
Winemaker Vincent Grall has just 3.8 hectares of vines, making him the second smallest producer in Sancerre. This means he can lavish the sort of attention to detail on his wines that just isn’t possible for larger estates. He meticulously prunes back hard in winter and green harvests the vines in summer to limit yields, and nourishes the vines, always organically. All the grapes for this great white are from his top Silex vineyards, a prized, flinty soil which lends smoky minerality to the wine. The fruit is handpicked and brought in small boxes to the winery, located in his garage on the Sancerre hill. The wine offers elegant citrus fruits, hints of wild flowers and a core of minerality. A real treat with oysters or grilled fish.
