The Wine
Despite having a greater area covered by vineyards than all of Australia and a climate that’s the envy of winemakers everywhere, Sicily’s delicious wines are still relatively unknown. That is now changing, thanks to innovative and talented winemakers like Scipione Giuliani. For this juicy red his team sourced full flavoured, indigenous grapes from the island’s west coast to give a fresh, fruity wine with plenty of berry character. Known to many as the star winemaker behind our bestselling Il Papavero range, Scipi can be relied upon for great Italian wines at unbeatable prices. Villa Mare has his stamp all over it, alongside New World levels of ripeness. Serve with suppers such as bangers and mash, devilled chicken or pasta with pesto.
