We’ve championed Jean-Charles Duran’s superb Un Vent de Folie for a decade. This is his 'Grand Cru' version – Grenache and Carignan from his 100+ year old Maury Sec vines. Minute yields and long barrel aging, it's powerful, dark, velvety and long.

The Wine
If you’re already a fan of Jean-Charles Duran’s Un Vent de Folie from the Roussillon, you’ll know that Maury’s very poor soils and windswept slopes produce immensely powerful reds. Its wines are so exceptional, in fact, that in 2011 a new appellation was created, Maury Sec, for the area's finest bottles. Jean-Charles has a few rows of prized 100+ year-old vines within Maury Sec and with these grapes he makes a very special barrel-aged wine he calls his 100+. It’s an intensely concentrated, old-vine Grenache and Carignan all from his century-old vines, barrel aged in fine French oak for up to two years. Yields are minute, which is partly due to drought conditions and also the age of the vines. A rich, velvety red, ideal with game stew.
