Opulent, sweet and fresh, Sweet Agnes Riesling is the pride of Hermann Seifried, founder of Seifried Estate in Nelson, New Zealand.
Hermann was a grape-growing pioneer, who arrived in New Zealand’s South Island from Austria, via Germany and South Africa, in 1969. He met and married Kiwi Agnes Wilkins, and they soon realised their shared dream of growing grapes. 1976 was their maiden vintage and 50 years on, the Seifrieds are racking up countless awards with the help of their children, Chris, Heidi and Anna.
Sweet Agnes is pure, late-harvested Riesling crafted from naturally ‘raisined’ grapes from the stony soils of their Eden Road vineyard. 2024 was an outstanding vintage in Nelson, in fact Hermann has commented that this may be the very best vintage of his 49 seasons in the region. Boasting an incredible 20 trophies, 2 Platinum and 54 Gold medals since launch, it's a delight on its own or with a creamy fruit tart.
