Roquebrun Seigneur d'Aupenac (Magnum) 2010
Saint-Chinian-Roquebrun AOC
Loading...
Exceedingly rare opportunity to get this limited edition, top Réserve red from Roquebrun. It's one of two standout cru appellations of Saint-Chinian. So good, its wines mature magnificently, for years with ease. Mellow fruit, mocha and herb spice.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
It's not often that truly great wines drop into a wine merchant's lap. Stationed in southern France, our buyer, Mark, heard rumour that magnums of the top wine from the great Roquebrun cellar were being sold off. That wine is the superb, limited-edition Seigneur d'Aupenac. Every vintage, this small premium village cellar, with its fine schist soils and high, southfacing slopes, holds back a few hundred magnums for use in shows and dinners. With the departure of Alain, their award-winning winemaker, the cellar agreed to sell the back vintages and Mark, without hesitation, said we'd take the lot. Made from Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, the 2010 is drinking really well, wonderfully mellow with velvety fruit, wild herbs and savoury spice.

These magnums are the finest examples of that style that I have ever enjoyed. Collector’s items
