RedHeads is a terrific, eco-focused winery in Australia's Barossa Valley. It specialises in sniffing out great parcels of grapes that result in absolute gems in the cellar. Here's one – pure Viognier that tasted so good they had to bottle it solo.

The Wine
RedHeads is a leading eco-friendly winery in Oz. It was started in 2002 in the McLaren Vale – a cellar where young winemakers could come in their spare time and make just the sort of small-scale wine they dreamed of. Since then, the winery has put down real roots in the Barossa, very nearly 100% off-grid, thanks to its solar panels, and nearly self-sufficient on recycled water. There they rescue small parcels of top-grade grapes and make showstopping wines. This Viognier comes from Marandoo in Langhorne Creek, the same site the team get Viognier for Coco Rotie. In 2022, the Viognier was so good they bottled some of it solo. Free-run juice, fermented in seasoned French oak, it has a creamy roundness and apricot fruit. Cracking with curries.
